Richard Moodie was founder of KraftMaid Cabinetry and grew his company to one of the largest built to order cabinet companies in the United States with over 2500 employees. His company is well known throughout America and Europe. RMoodie sold his company when his wife of 31 years developed cancer and he spent the next two years with her until she passed away. Today RMoodie spends his time creating 3 dimensional art, and wood carvings. His knowledge of different finishes, wood processing, designing and fabricating custom leaded glass doors and furniture design prepared him for creating his unique art form of works under exploded glass. RMoodie’s latest painting technique training came under the direction of the passionate, prodigy artist from the Dominican Republic MARIELA MOODE, whose works are displayed around the world.
RMoodie uses tempered glass as his media. After creating his art he explodes glass into the work, next he starts the process of applying several layers of epoxy adding design when desired between layers. Then as the great KRAFTMAN of exotic wood he surrounds each piece with solid Black Walnut the same specie’s he used to start KRAFTMAID CABINETRY in 1969. Each work is original and cannot be made into a print, one truly owns an original and finally he includes a lucky charm into each work to bring good luck to those who choose to display his work in their homes and businesses. RMoodie believes between now and when he passes his works will become extremely valuable to those who invest, display and enjoy.
